You begin by choosing what program you want to translate. The more you have used this program and know what the English text means, the better. The coordinator will send you a file named "th.po". You can use the program shown below to edit this file.

While translating, you can go back and forth between editing "th.po" and testing the translated program in Thai. Once you are satisfied, you can send "th.po" back to the coordinator.

ขั้นตอนการแปล เริ่มจากคุณเลือกโปรแกรม ที่อยากจะแปล โดยถ้านี่เป็น โปรแกรมที่ คุณใช้บ่อยๆ จนเข้าใจว่าข้อความ ภาษาอังกฤษส่วนใหญ่ แปลว่าอะไรแล้ว ก็ยิ่งดี ผู้ประสานงาน จะส่งแฟ้มชื่อ th.po ไปให้คุณ คุณสามารถใช้โปรแกรม อย่างที่เห็นด้านล่างนี้ แก้ไขแฟ้มนั้นได้โดยสะดวก

As you see, you don't need to be a computer wizard to help. Only basic skills like typing, e-mailing, web browsing, and good understand of Thai are needed to start. Please write to the mailing list and we will get you started :-).

Glossary

We use the OSS glossary maintained by OpenTLE project. This will hopefully help make our translated terms consistent with other Thai translation projects.

Corpus

To check for actual translations of some words in different sources, we use the experimental OSS corpus maintained by OpenTLE project. This will hopefully help check for previous translations as a guideline for new translations, as well as help check consistency of existing translations themselves.
